Chiminey Cricket Family Chiminey Sweeps and Dryer Vent Cleaning
3705 5th Ave.
Chiminey Cricket is a family owned chimney sweep and dryer vent cleaning company that began in 1983 when I saw an ad in Mother Earth news about the danger of chimney fires and decided to buy chimney sweep brushes to earn a bit of extra money to supplement my full time job.I was working for the USPS. Family Chimney Sweeps was the company name we chose and for 10 years that was about all that we did, sweep chimneys. In 1993 I decided to take the plunge full time and realized I needed to get educated and expand my skills to truly help correct the unsafe situations I often found sweeping fireplaces and wood stoves. It has been very valuable. Over the years I and other family members (4)have gone to CSIA (Chimney Safety Institute of America) chimney sweep training school, earning certifications, Ahren's Chimney Technique Restoration school for repairing and restoring masonry chimneys, CSIA's Chimney Physics Course for smoking issues and D&D course for diagnosing and documentation of chimney fires, as well as continuing with other education. We are proud to be the only "Guardian" cast in place liner system installers in Iowa. We will always be willing to discuss any issues you may have concerning your chimney and help in any way we can. We are pleased to say the majority of our customers are repeat customers and referrals. Come to our booth and visit with us. Of course, we still sweep chimneys.
DRYER VENT CLEANING: In the 1990's realizing the need for technicians who could repair faulty and clean blocked dryer vents and prevent the problems they cause (slow drying, dryer breakdowns, higher energy costs and dryer vent fires) CSIA started a Certified Dryer Exhaust Technician program. My wife Renee and I were in the very first class. She was CDET # 9. We encourage you to come to our booth and look at our slide show of dryer cleanings we have done in just the last several weeks. I think you will be shocked. Please come visit us and out our Home Show specials.
